About this tool

The Big Policy Canvas Knowledge Base is a state-of-the-art, online and dynamic repository that functions as an accumulator uniting all the knowledge produced during the project. It is structured along the three dimensions of needs, trends and assets and furthermore offers a mapping among them by defining how they are interconnected and how they influence each other.

The FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) data principles are key to the construction of the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC), a virtual environment for open and seamless services for storage, management, analysis and re-use of research data.

The goal of the FREYA consortium is to extend a robust environment for Persistent Identifiers (PIDs) into a core component of European and global research e-infrastructures. A tool to guide policy makers to derive specific policies and regulatory mechanisms in an agile and iterative manner – integrating both design thinking and evidence - based policy making. This notion of a canvas is borrowed from the business world. The canvas approach helps translate broad insights and understandings to the needs of a particular country. It also helps define the key issues at stake as well as metrics to evaluate success and suggest avenues for possible iteration and improvement.

The EU Joint Research Centre (JRC) collects the tools and databases to each published entry on the EU Science Hub respectively. The collection contains a total of 177 tools and databases for all policy domains. The tools and databases are categorised by name and acronym and can be filtered by research area or keyword.

The Big Data Value Association advertises and grants the “BDVA i-Space”-label for European Innovation Spaces to help drive forward Big Data adoption across all domains within European industry. Database providing comparable indicators covering all regions of Europe. The ESPON 2013 Database provides fundamental regional information provided by ESPON projects and EUROSTAT. This information can be used to support territorial development analysis at different geographical levels. The Database supports better understanding of past and future trends in different types of European territories and makes possible to benchmark your region and city in the European context.
